Perception

Used to explore materials and methods to scale up traditional techniques, thought it was time to challenge myself and merge everything that I’ve already experimented with and go back to a tiny and delicate scale.

It's not easy to understand how the human eye perceives an image. In my work it depends on the distance, light, wool thickness, size of the nails, or even a background 10% brighter. That is to say: every time you look at something, it can seem different from the last time. We don't see things as they are, but rather as we are.

Inspired by the raw gemstones' uniqueness, textures, and colors, this piece tells a story stitch by stitch. The delicacy of a handmade traditional technique and the vibrance of a digital interpretation results in a connection between generations. Just as the story of Tous. A family brand with strong roots which aims to preserve knowledge through generations.

Online Collective Exhibition — REWIND

The online group exhibition "REWIND" presents itself as a result of the challenge launched, by the European Parliament in Portugal and Mistaker Maker in March 2020, to a group of Portuguese artists. As a starting point, the artists should create unique works based on their individual context of confinement and with naturally limited resources. Reflecting, personally and globally, on issues, changes, and hopes.

Sparrow

Learning how to fly, live in flocks, or trust in humanity are three fundamental steps to living like a sparrow. However, it is not always as easy as it seems and this has been the role of the CAIS Association for the past 25 years: to grow a community in which we all count, where step by step, person by person, pixel by pixel it is possible to see out of the box.

"Cais Urbana" is the result of a challenge launched by the CAIS Association to Mistaker Maker that brought 27 national artists to this cause, who from a common base gave wings to their creativity in the construction of unique pieces.
On November 21, 2019, the pieces were exhibited at the National Coach Museum - Picadeiro Real, in Lisbon, starting the online auction.
